Olympics 2012

I’m watching the Olympics closing ceremony as I write this…what an exciting few weeks it’s been!

Perfect conditions for knitting and so I’ve made a good start on my charity challenge knitting – two baby cardigans and two tiny little hats for premature babies. 4 down, 96 to go!

It’s very hard to pick my favourite moment of the games as there were just so many but Mo Farah’s double gold medal has to be up there 🙂 Apart from the fact that he’s a great athlete and seems like an incredibly nice man, I think the fact that he came here as a refugee from Somalia as a child and now represents the country he made his home says so much about modern Britain.

And on that note, I’m going to give 10% of every order or commission from The Purly Queen from now until the 12th September to the Mo Farah foundation which provides aid to those who need it most in East Africa. Offer applies to all items from the shop or any bespoke orders for baby, kids or adult knits which you can place by getting in touch at thepurlyqueen@gmail.com.
